“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.”
― Arthur O'Shaughnessy
Below are videos and files that contain music or musical concepts that we have worked on this year. Each is divided by grade level. Parents, this is a great way to get involved with your child and music!
TURKEY IN THE STRAW
VERSE 1:
As I was a-goin’
On down the road
With a tired team
And a heavy load
I cracked my whip
And the leader sprung
I says day-day
To the wagon tongue
VERSE 2:
Went out to milk
And I didn’t know how
I milked the goat
Instead of the cow
A monkey sittin’
On a pile of straw
A-winkin’ at
His mother-in-law
VERSE 3:
I came to the river
And I couldn’t get across
So I paid five dollars
For a big bay hoss
Well, he wouldn’t go ahead
And he wouldn’t stand still
So he went up and down
Like an old saw mill
REFRAIN:
Turkey in the straw
Haw! Haw! Haw!
Turkey in the hay
Hay! Hay! Hay!
Roll ‘em up and twist ‘em up
A high tuck a-haw
And hit ‘em with a tune called
Turkey in the straw
Dance:
Step Forward 3 steps then clap
Step Backwards 3 steps then clap
Circle (flapping your wings) to the right
Funky chicken, clap, clap
Funky chicken, clap, clap
Circle (flapping your wings) to your left

Angier School Song (1921)
There’s a school in dear old Waban
That our hearts can ne’er forget.
It stands for truth and justice
Her honor we hold highest and we’ll ever faithful be.
Albert Angier, Albert Angier,
Happy all our days with thee.
You’re the pride and joy of Waban
And we’ll e’er be true to thee.
That our hearts can ne’er forget.
It stands for truth and justice
Her honor we hold highest and we’ll ever faithful be.
Albert Angier, Albert Angier,
Happy all our days with thee.
You’re the pride and joy of Waban
And we’ll e’er be true to thee.

Turkey Song (Grade 2)
As I came over yonder hill,
I spied a mighty turkey.
He flapped his wings
And he spread his tail
And his feet looked awful dirty.
Fol-link-a-tidy,
Fol-de-link-a-tidy O,
Fol-link-a-tidy,
And his feet looked awful dirty.
As I came over yonder hill,
I spied a mighty turkey.
He flapped his wings
And he spread his tail
And his feet looked awful dirty.
Fol-link-a-tidy,
Fol-de-link-a-tidy O,
Fol-link-a-tidy,
And his feet looked awful dirty.

We are Truly Thankful (Grade 3)
For the sun that gives us light,
We are truly thankful.
For the moon that shines at night,
We are truly thankful.
For the twinkling stars so bright,
We are truly thankful.
For the corn and golden wheat,
We are truly thankful.
For the pears and apples sweet,
We are truly thankful.
For the good food that we eat,
We are truly thankful.
For the joys of each new day,
We are truly thankful.
For each hour of work and play,
We are truly thankful.
For the music that we make,
We are truly thankful.
For the sun that gives us light,
We are truly thankful.
For the moon that shines at night,
We are truly thankful.
For the twinkling stars so bright,
We are truly thankful.
For the corn and golden wheat,
We are truly thankful.
For the pears and apples sweet,
We are truly thankful.
For the good food that we eat,
We are truly thankful.
For the joys of each new day,
We are truly thankful.
For each hour of work and play,
We are truly thankful.
For the music that we make,
We are truly thankful.
